Chapel Hill has been my home for over 33 years and I bring a strong background of public service and business expertise to my work as mayor of Chapel Hill.
I have served the public as an Orange County Commissioner, chair of the Chapel Hill–Carrboro Board of Education, community leader and businesswoman. During 33 years of service to the Chapel Hill community, I have built a solid reputation as a collaborative leader, good listener, and strong advocate for education, social justice, our community parks and the environment.
Professionally, I worked as a business manager in the computer and real estate industries and now own a small commercial real estate firm. This experience in administration, financial accounting and budgeting, and property redevelopment has served me well in my government positions.
My husband Brad and I chose to live in Chapel Hill because the town is just right: small enough to let us connect meaningfully with the life of the community but large enough to offer diversity, opportunity, and a rich cultural environment. We were deeply involved in community youth programs while raising our four children, all educated in the Chapel Hill–Carrboro City Schools.
In my spare time I am an avid hiker, gardener, a tennis player, and cherish time spent outdoors with my family.
